Ernest Communications, Inc. (ECI) was incorporated in 1997, though its roots in telecom go back to 1984, when Joseph Ernest founded Ernest Telecom, a company devoted to the design and manufacture of printed circuitry for public communications equipment. Paul Masters joined Ernest Telecom in 1992, and over the course of five years held various sales leadership and senior management positions before becoming President in 1996. Coincidentally, The Telecommunications Act was signed into law in 1996, the first major overhaul to telecommunications law in more than a half century. The groundbreaking legislation was aimed at spurring innovative technology for telecom consumers by allowing all qualified companies access to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). Recognizing the opportunity to gain access to the country’s nearly 200 million local lines, Mr. Ernest and Mr. Masters co-founded Ernest Communications, Inc. (ECI), and the Company quickly became one of the nation's largest telecommunications companies dedicated exclusively to serving multi-location businesses throughout the U.S., building its reputation on 100% network coverage, incredibly simple, yet comprehensive billing, and unsurpassed trouble resolution and account management.

inContact®, Inc. has evolved over the years from a telecom company to a software provider. The company began in 1997 as UCN, Inc., a reseller of telecommunication services. After a series of strategic acquisitions commencing in 1999, UCN emerged with a new product approach combining a national voice over IP (VoIP) network with innovative, on-demand contact handling and agent optimization technology called inContact. This hosted software delivers a low-cost, flexible, integrated solution to connect your customers with the right agents on time, every time.
In January 2009, we officially changed our company name from UCN to inContact. The name change reflects the emergence from a provider of telecommunications services to the leader in Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) infrastructure for multi-site contact centers and CRM workforces.
The inContact product suite delivers core features and functions on a per-seat basis, with the ability to scale capacity up or down as business fluctuates. Because inContact controls the network in which the applications are hosted, our company is uniquely positioned to serve the contact center market with an affordable and flexible solution. It is also perfect for those with a distributed workforce—either at-home or multi-site employees.
inContact is led by an experienced management team with exceptional depth of knowledge in general management, sales, technology, telecommunications and the contact center market. Because of our leadership, experience, and innovative vision, inContact was an early SaaS player in the contact center market and has emerged as an industry leader.
The inContact platform is making it easier for contact centers to achieve excellence by allowing companies to measure, control, and improve each step of the customer experience.

Level 3 continued investments in infrastructure to become a world-class communications provider, and won the trust of the world's most sophisticated communications companies. In addition to ongoing construction, the company expanded its assets with the February 2003 acquisition of Genuity. Over the next few years, and through a major industry downturn, Level 3 pursued a strategy that focused on both the balance sheet and investing for the inevitable industry rebound. Level 3 won the confidence of investors, as the company raised more money than all other NexGen carriers combined; and also of customers, who made Level 3 one of the world's top three Internet traffic carriers.
Today, Level 3 Communications is one of only six Tier 1 Internet providers in the world. The company ranks as one of world's most connected Internet Service Providers (ISPs). And expanding assets have solidified the company's position as one of the largest IP transit networks in North America and Europe.

In 1995, a financial information company called Bridge had a business problem: How to collect financial information from around the world, consolidate that information, and deliver it as part of a powerful trading system to hundreds of thousands of terminals. The big IT and telecom suppliers of the time could not provide a solution to meet Bridge’s requirements. So Bridge built a real-time infrastructure that extended to 45 countries and delivered high reliability to trading terminals at excellent price points.
Around the same time, DiamondNet was formed to fix the Internet performance problem by building a better Internet that avoided the public networking points that often got bogged down or targeted by viruses.
In 1996, DiamondNet changed its name to Savvis, and in April 1999, Savvis was acquired by Bridge. The combination of Bridge’s global, high-performance, secure private IT infrastructure and Savvis’ high-performance Internet represented a new breed of IT that attracted the interest of customers and Wall Street. Savvis made its initial public offering (IPO) in February 2000 and acquired the combined IT structure simultaneously with its IPO.
Since that time, Savvis has grown significantly, both organically and through acquisition. In 2002, when Intel decided to exit the hosting business, Savvis was selected by Intel to provide hosting and network services to their clients. In 2003, Savvis acquired the commercial business of WAM!NET and gained a significant footing and powerful application tools for the media and entertainment, print and publishing, retail, and consumer goods verticals. In 2004, Savvis acquired the assets of Cable & Wireless USA, which included 3,000 marquis enterprise customers, 15 data centers, and significant consulting experience from Exodus Communications, a Tier 1 backbone. Today, Savvis has over 2,000 employees and 28 data centers.
